Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Attended John Marshall High School, Music
Major. I was President of the high school service organization and of the Spanish
Club. I played on the Varsity Volleyball team.
Received Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation at Cal State University, Los
Angeles. Nominated most outstanding Senior in the Recreation Department. Member
of the Delta Beta Sigma Sorority. Swimmer on the Varsity Swim Team for three
years. Completed a Certificate of Recreation Therapy at San Bernardino Community
College. Received Masters of Public Administration in 1995 from Cal State San
Bernardino. Received the MPA Outstanding Achievement Award.
Moved from Los Angeles to the Inland Empire in 1973 with husband to develop the
Prosthetic and Orthotic program at Loma Linda Medical University. Moved to present
home located in Yucaipa in October 1975.
Board member for the Yucaipa Valley Kiwanis Club, P.E.O Sorority, Riverside Medical
Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association, and Y.A.P.S.
Interests: Antiques, horseback riding, gardening, traveling, remodeling, philately,
and traveling.
Barbara is currently a Career Agent with Genworth Financial
selling Long Term Care Insurance, which helps people protect their hard earned
assets and prevents the catastrophic impact that caring for a loved one places
on families. I worked 23 years in the field of Parks and Recreation ending my
career in 2004 as a Parks and Recreation Director, and worked for United Parcel
Service 9 years.
